The given equation is

x^2 + 6x = - 2

In order to complete the square, we would add the square of half of the coefficient of x to both sides of the equation. The coefficient of x is 6. Half of 6 is 3. Square of 3 is 9, Thus, 9 should be added to both sides of the equation if you are using the “completing the square” method
