ANSWER :

41/53

EXPLANATION :

From the problem,

there are 12 male professors, 15 female professors, 15 male teaching assistants, and 11 female teaching assistants.

We are asked to find the probability that the selected person is a teaching assistant or a female.

The number of teaching assistants is 15 + 11 = 26

The number of females is 15 + 11 = 26

The number of female assistants is 11

The number of teaching assistants or females = (number of teaching assistant) + (number of females) - (number of female assistants)

That will be :

\text{ number of teaching assistants or females }=26+26-11=41

The probability is 41 out of the total number persons (12 + 15 + 15 + 11 = 53)

That will be :

(41)/(53)
