How does clause 39 of Magna Carta was influential to the American Revolution

Here is the clause 39 of Magna Carta :

- No free man is to be arrested, or imprisoned, or disseised , or outlawed, or exiled, or in other way ruined nor will we go against him , except by the lawful judgement of his peers or by the law of the land. -

This clause greatly limit the power of the Kings toward his citizen ( the king used to able execute anybody he did not like) and greatly helped the process of the Revolution
