The Virginia and Kentucky resolutions were statements created in 1798 and 1799. The Virginia Resolutions convey the idea that the states have the capability to interpose to prevent harm caused by unconstitutional laws. The Kentucky Resolutions expressed that the states can declare that federal laws are unconstitutional and void.
