onTo solve the equation we must separate the variable in a side and the numerical term in the other side

Since the equation is 9x + 1 = -35

So subtract 1 from both sides

9x + 1 - 1 = -35 - 1

9x = -36

Now let us divide both sides by 9 to find x


\begin{gathered} (9x)/(9)=(-36)/(9) \\ x=-4 \end{gathered}

So the solution of the equation is -4

Let us check the answer by substituting x in the equation by 4 if the left side = the right side, then the solution is correct

9(-4) + 1 = -36 + 1 = -35

The left side = the right side

So the solution of the equation is -4
