OK so basically think about it protons are positively charged right? so if that is mixed with an atom it will be  positively charged . On the other hand negative is neutrons

In a neutral atom, the number of protons and electrons are always equal.

However, if there are more number of protons than electrons, we say the atom is now positively charged, (since protons are positively charged and the charges on electron cant cancel them out)

If there are more number of electrons than protons, the atom would be negatively charged.

If however there are different number of neutrons in an atom, but same proton number- we call them as isotopes. example 1H2 and 1H3 they have same protons but different neurtrons! hence they are isotopes of hydrogen

Hope this helpss
