Answer: A. Asoka

Ashoka or Asoka was an Indian emperor of the Maurya Dynasty from c. 268 to 232 BCE. He is mainly remembered for being responsible for spreading Buddhism throughout East and Southeast Asia. After the conquest of the Kalinga, Asoka was devastated to see the destruction that the war had caused. He was regretful of his actions and decided to become a peaceful emperor and a patron of Buddhism.
