Neoclassicism is the name for the movement in literature, but also for the other branches of art, which appeared among Western writers, between 1660 and 1798. In translation means new classicism and has roots in classical literature of ancient Greece and Rome. Neoclassicism, therefore, arose much later than the classic era, but inspired by antiquity. Neoclassicism id divided into three periods, The Restoration period, Augustan period and The age of Johnson.
