Given:
1/4 miles
5 1/9 times
convert mixed fraction into an improper fraction.
5 1/9 = ((5*9)+1)/9 = 46/9
1/4 miles * 46/9 = 1*46 / 4*9 = 46/36 = 1 10/36 = 1 5/18 miles
Martha ran 1 5/18 miles.
