fractions:
1st fraction 1/3
2nd fraction 1 1/4
converted mixed fraction into an improper fraction
1 1/4 = ((1*4)+1)/4 = 5/4
1/3 * 5/4 = 1*5 / 3*4 = 5/12
5/12 acre is the number of acres that is used as a dog park.
