Help (10pts.)

A jar contains 12 nickels, 12 dimes, and 12 quarters. A coin is chosen at random from the jar. What is the probability that the coin chosen is a quarter? A. 1/36 B. 1/12 C. 1/4 D. 1/3

Well what you want to do is sum them all up which would be 36 , then you want to simplfy 36 , since you have 3 diffrent coins you want to divide 36/3 , 12  then you want to simply 12 because its even and can be simplyed ,12/3 , you would get for 4 and he chooses one random at random , your answer would come out to 1/4

you first add up all the coins to get your total amount

12+12+12=36

and since 12 of those are quarters, we can get a ratio of 12/36 although, you would need to simplify so divide each number by 12 to get 1/3
