area=pi times radius^2

the 28 is a diameter
radius is 1/2 of diameter
28/2=14

area=pi times 14^2
pi=22/7 for this quesiton
area=22/7 times 14^2
area=22/7 times 196
area=4312/7
area=616 cm^2

answer is 616 square centimeers

Answer:

Area of a circle(A) is given by:

A= \pi r^2 ....[1]

where,

r is the radius of the circle.

As per the statement:

From the given image of circle:

Diameter(d) = 28 cm

Using formula:

d = 2r

then;

28 = 2r

Divide both sides by 2 we have;

14 cm = r

or

r = 14 cm

Substitute r =14 cm and use
\pi = (22)/(7) in [1] we have;

A = (22)/(7) \cdot  14 \cdot 14 = 22 \cdot 2 \cdot 14 = 44 \cdot 14 = 616 cm^2

therefore, the area of the circle is, 616 square cm
