Explanation: A public official is someone who, in addition to engaging in a public office, also represents the interests of a party, interest group, citizen group, simply someone elected by the citizen in some way for that function. As public function is a prerequisite for democracy and in the service of citizens, it is the citizens who, at one of the levels of elections, will decide on the further confidence of those in office. That is why surveys are being conducted to give those in public function an insight into how they are doing their job, i.e. whether citizens are satisfied with their job.
