They all ate about 36/8 you would do 12 times 3 and that eaquals 36 and each piece is one eighth so the fraction is 36/8

36/8 or 4 1/2 If they each ate 3 slices they would eat 36 pieces in all you would but it over 8 which is simplified to 4 1/2
