Ok to solve your first expression follow these steps 1. Simplifying 3(x + -4) + 5(x + 6) 2. Reorder the terms 3(-4 + x) + 5(x + 6) (-4 * 3 + x * 3) + 5(x + 6) (-12 + 3x) + 5(x + 6) 3. Reorder the terms -12 + 3x + 5(6 + x) -12 + 3x + (6 * 5 + x * 5) -12 + 3x + (30 + 5x) 4. Reorder the terms -12 + 30 + 3x + 5x 5. Combine like terms -12 + 30 = 18 + 3x + 5x 6. Combine like terms 3x + 5x = 8x + 18 and that's your answer do you understand?
