The graph shows 2 turning points. Note that the degree of a function is 1 more than the turning points.

So the function is in 3rd degree.

Note also that the sign of the leading coefficient determines the direction of the graph.

If the sign is positive, the graph goes upward.

If the sign is negative, the graph goes downward.

From the figure shown, the graph goes downward, so the leading coefficient is negative.

The best answer is Option 1. The equation has a negative leading coefficient.
