It was the Red Scare and the Anarchist Movement. These two developments led to a more isolationist stance in the United States. The Bolshevik Revolution led to the rise of Communism in Russia and in America, Communist movements often affect labor in industries and Americans became of them and considered them a threat. Anarchists were also influencing the labor class and that is why the Americans did not like them. Both movements ran counter to democratic and capitalist beliefs.
