135% increase in price.
Means the new price is now 100% + 135% = 235% of the price bought.
= 235% of 85
= 235/100 * 85 = 2.35 * 85 = 199.75
He sold it for $199.75.

well if the increase is 135% then
actual price=85
135% of actual price=114.75
new price
= actual price + increased price
= 85+114.75
=119.75
