Make each fraction have a common denominator. It would be 7 9/21 - 2 8/21, which would then be 9/21-8/21 so 1/21, then do the whole numbers so 7-2, which is 5. The final answer is 5 1/21

first convert them to improper fraction form, then find a common denominator (multiply the numerators on both sides respectively) and subtract :)
