I feel the overall critique of society in Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol is focused on capitalism, being busy on creating wealth that sometimes we forget what is truly important in life which is family togetherness, compassion for the poor or the less fortunate and sharing the blessings with them. The time setting of this novel which was Christmas I believe captures perfectly the scenario to show this society critique.
