Hubert wants to buy a car tire that has a full price of$245 plus an 8% sales tax. Which is the better offer, a 15%-off sale or a $25 coupon?

So full price plus the sales tax equal out to $264.6. With the sale it would be $224.91. With the coupon, it would be $239.6 so the better deal would be the 15% off

(1) The price would be on $25.00 coupon = $264.60 - 25.00 = $239.60

(2) The price on 15%-off sale would be = 245 - (15% of 264.60)

245 - (0.15 × 264.60) = 245 - 39.69 = $225.11

Therefore, offer of 15%-off would be a better deal to Hubert.
