Reflect on everyday situations where you are faced with choices in which knowledge of chemistry can be a factor. E.g: If you want to buy an eco-friendly top, which material is the best choice? Are paper bags better than plastic bags? Select a situation where you do not feel sufficiently knowledgeable to make a well-informed decision. Then acquire the knowledge you need and use it to justify your choice. In addition, choose a subject where you believe there is widespread popular belief with no scientific foundation. An example of that might be homeopathy. Research the subject and try to find solid arguments for and against that belief.

The first thing to keep in mind is that everything around us is chemical, from the smallest things that we cannot see to the largest that is out of our reach. You can choose the scenario that you like the most. In your home, your school, a park, shopping center, sports center.

For example, for your home you can see searching about food preparation, there chemistry is involved due to the cooking temperature of different foods, you make many mixtures by incorporating different ingredients. You can find what nutrients are in food and how they chemically affect your body.

Or you can pay attention to the implements used for cleaning, those also have certain chemical compounds that help cleaning, you can find out what they are and how they clean chemically.

The things they use are also made of a material, they have a weight, they oxidize or not. You can see what they are made of, what reactions occur to obtain the final product and how their production affects the environment.
