1.) You add 18 to both sides 2.) You add 10 to both sides
y = 6x - 18 y = 4x - 10
+18 +18 +10 +10
then you divide by 6 then you divide by 4
18 = 6x 10 = 4x
/6 /6 /4 /4
where x is equal to 3 where x is equal to 2.5
x = 3 x = 2.5

4x-10=6x-18
4x=6x-8
-2x=-8
x=4

y=6(4)-18
y=24-18
y=6
