We will find first the slope(m) using two pairs of points that belong to the line, that is:

m=(-7-(-3))/(2-1)\Rightarrow m=-4

Now, using a point of the line and the slope, we replace in the following expression:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

We can use any point from the line, in our case I will use the point (1, -3), that is:

y-(-3)=-4(x-1)

Now, we proceed to solve for y:

\Rightarrow y+3=-4x+4\Rightarrow y=-4x+1

So, the equation of the linear function is:

y=-4x+1
