8x - 4 = 3x + 6
8x = 3x + 6 + 4
8x = 3x + 10
8x - 3x = 10
5x = 10
x = 10/5
x = 2

8x - 4 = 3x + 6 (Combine like terms)
5x - 4 = 6
+ 4 + 4
-------------------
5x = 10
5x/5 = 10/5
x = 2
