You have 500 sheets of notebook paper. After 1 week, you have 72% of the sheets left. You use the same number of sheets each week. Write an equation in slope-intercept form that represents the number y of pages remaining after x weeks.

y= -140x+500

To get 140, subtract 72 from 100. You get 28%. Then, multiply it by 500 to find out how many sheets of paper you used. You get 140 sheets of paper. So, the final equation is y= -140x+500.

You use 28% of your available sheets
28% = .28
500 x .28 = 140 sheets used

(0,500) (1,360)

m = 360-500/1-0
m = -140

y = -140x + 500
