Add the two variables on the right side, the numbers with a letter attached to them. You should have 12. Then subtract 12 from left to right or right from left. It will cancel out both sides.

Subtract 7 from 22, or 22 from seven. You'll get a numerical value, however there are no variables left, therefore your answer is zero
