Rob bought a hat and 3 shirts for $35 . Dan bought 2 hats and a shirt for $20 Which system of equations can be used to find s , the cost of one shirt, and h, the cost of one hat?

Personally, I just solved by substitution.

Solve for x (or y) in the first equation. Let's do x.

Since we have x, plug it in the other equation. 2(35-3y)+y=20. This equals out to y=10, i assume you understand the algebra.

Plug 10 into either equation for y.

1x+3(10)=35 or x+30=35. subtract 30 on each side. X=5.
