How did the state of confederate railroads mainly impact that group's efforts in the civil war?

A sparse amount of rails made it difficult to transport Southern troops and munitions.

Blockade of South/ assisting armies in field operations. The south created new weapons and copied ships but still didn't stand a chance. However, the Confederates strong resistance showed that they would not go quietly and the war was far from over.
