AB = 39 feet

We have to calculate the distance between the base of the ladder and the building.

Let distance BC = x feet

We know tan 70 = AB/BC = 39/x

x = 39/ tan 70 = 39/2.75 = 14.20 feet

So the distance between base of the building and the base of the ladder is 14.20 feet.
