The Saint Bernards are French mountain dogs.
They are mainly bred to rescue people from avalanche in the Alps.
They were given a motto " Noblesse, dévouement et sacrifice" which means
" Nobility, dedication and sacrifice"
they are often pictured with a small barrel around their neck which ,as it was said, was containing Schnaps for the victims to warm them up !!
