Huck is enchanted with the raw power and wildness of the storm, and he is not afraid because he is comfortable in nature, has a spirit of adventure, and knows how to take care of himself. The symbolism has to do with the conflict Huck has with the settled life on the shore in contrast to the wild, free-wheeling life on the river.
