The amount y (inThe cups) of flour is proportional to the number x of eggs in a recipe.The recipe calls for 5 cups of flour for every 3 eggs.Interpret the slope

we have

y -----> cups of flour

x ----> number of eggs

so

slope=y/x

slope=5/3 cups of flour per egg

therefore

slope means

5/3 cups of flour per egg

In this problem the slope is equal to the unit rate

to find out the slope divide the total cups of flour by the total number of eggs

so

we have

5/3=1.67

that means

1.67 cups of flour per one egg

or

5/3 cups of flour per one egg
