1/2+1/6=1/n
4/6=1/n
4n=6
n=6/4=3/2 hours to do the driveways, working together

Answer: It takes 1.5 hours for them to do the work together.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Number of hours his new four wheel drive truck takes = 2 hours

Number of hours his neighbour can plow out takes = 6 hours

We need to find the number of hours they work together.

According to question, it becomes,

(1)/(2)+(1)/(6)=(1)/(x)\\\\(3+1)/(6)=(1)/(x)\\\\(4)/(6)=(1)/(x)\\\\x=(6)/(4)\\\\x=1.5\ hours

Hence, it takes 1.5 hours for them to do the work together.
