Minutemen were member of the militia during the revolutionary war. They said that they could be ready for battle in a minute, hence the name minutemen.

A minuteman was groups of people who pledged to defend America's freedom, and was known as minutemen because "they got ready in a minute's notice". The group(s) usually are made up of people who lived in the area.
