Radiation does not require molecules moving in order to heat something up. Radiation uses thermal radiation to heat something up rather conduction and convection. No mass or medium is required for radiation to heat something up.

However, with conduction molecules bump together and will pass the heat, eventually causing something to heat up.

Convection is when something warm moves up into cooler places and then it's a chain reaction to get something warmer.
