2x + 6 = 3y
x + 12 = 4y

Solve the second equation for x:

x = 4y - 12

Substitute in the first equation.

2(4y - 12) + 6 = 3y

8y - 24 + 6 = 3y

8y - 18 = 3y

5y = 18

y = 18/5

x + 12 = 4y

x + 12 = 4(18/5)

x = 72/5 - 60/5

x = 12/5

Answer: x = 12/5; y = 18/5
