The volume of a sample of hydrogen gas was decreased from 14.19L to 7.48 L at constant temperature. If the final pressure exerted by the hydrogen gas sample was 6.14 atm, what pressure did the hydrogen gas exert before its volume was decreased?

Ideal gas law: pv = nrt
If the only variables are p and v (everything else constant) then you can write..
pv = PV

* making lowercase before volume decrease

p(14.19) = (6.14)(7.48)
p = (6.14)(7.48)/(14.19)
p = 3.24 atm
