let the number of Mimi's CD be M, and Rita's be R
M/R=5/8 and R=18+m =>M/(18+M)=5/8
5(18+M)=8M =>M=30, and R=18+30=48
Next, Rita gives 22 CD to Mimi, so Rita has now 48-22=26, and Mimi has 30+22=52
M/R=52/26=2/1
2:1 is the answer
