\begin{gathered} y=-2x-9 \\ y=3x+1 \\ 3x+1=-2x-9 \\ 3x+1-1=-2x-9-1 \\ 3x=-2x-10 \\ 3x+2x=-2x-10+2x \\ 5x=-10 \\ (5x)/(5)=(-10)/(5) \\ x=-2 \end{gathered}

and for y

y=3\mleft(-2\mright)+1=-6+1=-5

answer: ( -2, -5)
