The symbol is the “Two eagles fighting”

Zeus is on Odysseus side, in the second book he sends him an omen, Halitherses reads this omen, there are two eagles fighting and the meaning of this is that after Odysseus return the suitors will be punished. This also shows that the future cannot be controlled by the humans.

A symbol that could be analyse is Leartes´ shroud. It is Penelope who weaves it for Leartes 8 his father-in-law) at his funeral might symbolize the way in which she confronted his suitors. as she was not able to fight them psychically because of her strength, she kept the away with her wits. She was devoted to the shroud for some years and she promised to find a husband when she finished-
