Expand the equation.

vj + vy = 61y + 82

Subtract 'vj' from both sides

vy = 61y + 82 - vj

Subtract 61y from both sides

vy - 61y = 82 - vj

Factor out the term y.

y (v - 61) = 82 - vj

Divide both sides by v - 61

y = 82 - vj / v - 61
