assuming it's the same base log on either side you can just set the inside equal.
-2a + 9 = 7 - 4a
-2a + 4a = 7 - 9
2a = -2
a = -1

Verify each of the solutions by substituting them back into the original equation
log
(−2a+9)=log
(7−4a)
log
(-2a+9)
=log
(7-4a)
and solving. In this case, all solutions were found to be valid.
