They are green because they are prey animals and they mainly eat leaves right so they need camouflage to not be seen by predators. And they eat green leaves a lot so they need green for that so they don't get hunted while eating

Hello! Caterpillars are green as a form of camouflage. This coloration prevents certain predators from hunting the insect.
