A line is drawn through (–7, 11) and (8, –9). The equation y – 11 = (x + 7) is written to represent the line. Which equations also represent the line?

The standard equation of a line is Ax+By=C

The point is to get X and Y om the left side and the excess numbers on the right. (A,B, and C just repsreent the numbers)

Y-11+= X+ 7
-X. -X
--------
-X+Y- 11= 7
+11. +11
------
Your answer is
-X+Y= 18

But if your teacher doesnt Allow A to be a negative multiply the whole equation by -1

And THEN your answer would be X-Y= -18

Hope that helps!

Answer:

3y+4x=5

Explanation:

step 1

Find the slope

we have

(–7, 11) and (8, –9)

m=(-9-11)/(8+7)

m=-20/15

m=-4/3

step 2

Find the equation of the line into point slope form

we have

m=-4/3

point (-7,11)

substitute

y-11=-(4/3)(x+7) ----> equation of the line into point slope form

Multiply by 3 both sides

3y-33=-4(x+7)

3y-33=-4x-28

3y+4x=33-28

3y+4x=5 -----> equation of the line into standard form
