The American flag has symbolic meanings with every stripe and color. The 13 alternating red and white horizontal stripes have their symbolic meanings. The 6 white stripes symbolize innocence and purity contrasted by the 7 red stripes representing resilience, stamina, strength and courage. The blue rectangle in the top left hand corner represents The Chief, as well as dignity and justice. The original "Betsy Ross Flag" that had 13 stars located in a circle and was our flag for around 50 years, was taken as inspiration for the 50 stars located on the left hand corner of our flag today. Symbolizing the 50 states of the United States of America.
I hope this helps!
