A farmer grows two types of grain in his fields. He has a seed budget of $18,000.00 and has spent $8,100.00 to plant wheat seed so far. If barley seed costs $47.00 per acre to plant, what is the maximum number of acres of barley the farmer can plant and still be under budget?

$18,000.00-$8,100.00=$9,900
9,900/47=210.6
210×47= 9,870
$30 under budget
210 max acres

Answer: There is 211 number of acres of barley the farmer can plant and still be under budget.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Amount of budget = $18000

Expenses he spent to plant wheat = $8100

So, Total amount for acre is given by

\$18000-\$8100\\\\=\$9900

Cost of each acre to plant = $47.00

So, the maximum number of acres of barley is given by

(9900)/(47)\\\\=210.63\\\\=211\ acres

Hence, there is 211 number of acres of barley the farmer can plant and still be under budget.
