A bicyclist rides 16 miles in 144 minutes. If she continues at this speed, how long will it take her to travel 36 miles?

So for this you want to set up a proportion, like this:

After that, solve the equation for X to get your answer in number of minutes, like this:

16 miles*X minutes = 144 minutes*36 miles \\ 16X= 5184 minutes \\ (16x)/(16)= (5184 minutes)/(16) \\ X= 324 minutes
