This means the area is 64 inches^2:

x * x = 64
x = 8

Hope this helps!

Answer:

4 inches is the edge length of the container.

Explanation:

Length of the small cubes = a = 1 inch

Volume occupied each small cube = v =
a^3=(1 inch )^3= 1 inches^3

Length of the big cube = A

Volume of the big cube = V

V=A^3

He uses 64 cubes with side lengths of 1 inch to completely fill the container.

V=64* v=64* 1 inches^3

A^3=64* 1 inch^3

A = 4 inch

4 inches is the edge length of the container.
