2y+2=18
2y=18-2
2y=16

Thanks for the question!
First, we need to combine like terms:
y + y + 2 = 18
2y + 2 = 18
Now, we need to subtract 2 from both sides
2y = 16
Now, we need to divide each side by 2.
y = 8
